The New Mexico Nursing Education Consortium (NMNEC) welcomed faculty from member nursing programs across the state to the 2026 NMNEC Statewide Faculty Workshop on June 7, 2026, at the Central New Mexico Community College Workforce Training Center in Albuquerque. The annual event provided opportunities for professional development, collaboration, and strategic planning as faculty prepared for the upcoming academic year.

The workshop opened with updates from NMNEC leadership, including highlights from Academic Year 2025–2026, committee reports, financial updates, and discussions regarding the next phase of NMNEC initiatives. Faculty also participated in networking and level-specific brainstorming sessions designed to strengthen collaboration across programs.

A featured session, NMNEC Simulation in Action: When Standards Meet Learning, provided participants with 2.0 continuing education units and explored the integration of the updated National League for Nursing (NLN) Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice and key INACSL standards. Presenters shared NMNEC’s current simulation plan and clarified the understandings of OSCEs, simulations, and skills-based learning into nursing curricula as well as ideas on how to apply those understandings to the use of simulation in the NMNEC pre-licensure RN curriculum.

Workshop evaluations reflected strong participant satisfaction. Faculty reported increased confidence in applying workshop content, identified specific changes they plan to implement in their teaching practices, and affirmed the relevance of the presentations to their professional roles. Participants particularly valued the opportunity to connect with colleagues, exchange ideas, and engage in discussions focused on curriculum improvement and student success.

NMNEC extends sincere appreciation to its workshop sponsors for their generous support. Lunch was sponsored by Laerdal, and break refreshments were sponsored by Elsevier. In addition, the location was provided by Central New Mexico Community College (CNM). This support helped foster an engaging environment for networking, collaboration, and professional development throughout the event.
