The New Mexico Nursing Education Consortium (NMNEC) is proud to announce Lorenzo Saenz, MSN, RN, CHSE, from Western New Mexico University, as the recipient of the 2025 Anita Reinhardt NMNEC Faculty Endowment Award.

Lorenzo was recognized for his innovative work in simulation education, including the development of performance reference points—a framework that advances how nursing faculty assess clinical reasoning and decision-making. His approach promotes deliberate practice, reflection, and student confidence while inspiring statewide collaboration among NMNEC faculty.

NMNEC also congratulates Andrea Yee, BSN, RN, from Luna Community College, as a distinguished nominee. Andrea integrates ATI remediation, the Teach-Back method, and virtual simulation to strengthen student learning, critical thinking, and clinical judgment in foundational nursing courses.

Both educators exemplify the legacy of Anita Reinhardt (1947–2023)—advancing accessible, high-quality nursing education through innovation, collaboration, and commitment to student success.
