Despite limited funding for an in-person gathering, the 2025 NMNEC Statewide Faculty Meeting successfully brought educators together from across New Mexico in a fully virtual format. More than 95 faculty members registered, and 66 participants joined the continuing education presentation on simulation.
Attendee feedback reflected a range of preferences—from a desire for in-person connection with colleagues to strong support for a hybrid format in 2026, as many noted the virtual option made it easier to participate. Several programs, including New Mexico State University and the University of New Mexico–Albuquerque, hosted group viewings so faculty could engage with the meeting together.

The continuing education session, “Performance Reference Points: A Vehicle to Assess Competence of Competency,” was presented by Professor Lorenzo Saenz of Western New Mexico University. During the meeting, Professor Saenz was also honored as the recipient of the Anita Reinhardt NMNEC Faculty Endowment Award.
